Medicare Advantage Plans
What are Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage Plans are in short, an alternative way to receive your Medicare coverage. They are not traditional Medicare coverage, but rather manage care plans provided by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. Advantage plans bundle together the benefits of Medicare Parts A, B and in most cases your part D coverage. Advantage plans do require you to be enrolled in both Medicare part A & part B and you will still be responsible for paying your part B premium. Once enrolled your Medicare Advantage plan will replace your traditional benefits from Original Medicare.
All plans must follow guidelines set by Medicare, but they are able to establish their own set of co-pays, co-insurance, and cost sharing. These plans also set a limit or maximum out of pocket on what you will be responsible for paying each year for covered services to help protect enrollees against high medical costs. Current plan information and costs are available through appointment with your local agent.
