Medicare is a government-provided fee-for-service insurance program, that originated in the 1960's and was intentionally created with seniors in mind. This insurance program includes several important parts which are outlined below:

  • Part A: coverage includes facility-based care, for example hospital visits or stays, emergency room services, hospice care, and nursing home care.
  • Part B: coverage includes traditional outpatient care, treatment and services, which includes but is not limited to vaccinations, lab tests, mental health services, outpatient operations, durable medical equipment and more.
  • Part C: Also known as a Medicare advantage plan, provides coverage that includes elements of Part A, Part B and sometimes Part D.
  • Part D: coverage for prescription drugs.
  • Medi-gap: coverage through private insurance companies that aims to fill in the "gaps" left over from original Medicare (part A and B)

Understand Your Options

While standard Medicare offers coverage for a wide variety of services, you may find that a different plan through a separate insurance carrier better fits your needs. If you are interested in an alternative plan, we can help you find coverage through either Medigap or Medicare Advantage. Both of these plans offer additional support through third-party insurers, and they are required to provide equal or better coverage when compared to regular Medicare.
